Officiate Q&A
General
Q. I’m a club admin and an umpire. Can I register as both?
A. Yes you can. At this point though, you do need to use a different email address for each account.
Q. Can I verify my account directly from the verification email I receive from Officiate?
A. No. You just need to paste the verification code to the login page on the web app or manually type in the letter/number combination.
Q. Why do I need to put in my full address?
A. To enable Officiate to determine whether a fixture is within the distance preference set by umpires
Q. Will my address be visible?
A. No personal addresses will be visible. Only match venue details and club addresses. If you are an umpire, Officiate will show what location details users will see on your profile before you sign up.
Q. Can I use Officiate on my iPhone and iPad as well as laptop or computer?
A. Yes you can. The web app has been configured for both. If you do have any issues with alignment this could associate with the use of different browsers. Please use the help email address to report any issues.
Club
Q. On registration, how many teams can I add?
A. You can add as many as you like. If you would like to add more teams later, go to My Account and My Teams, where you can add additional teams.
Q. My club plays in a social league and it is not listed in the list of available leagues. Can I still use the web app?
A. Yes absolutely. Let us know what league you play in and we can add it to our database. Meanwhile, choose the Undefined option in the drop down list of leagues.
Q. I don’t remember my club registration number with England Netball. Do I need it?
A. If you want to benefit from the reduced subscription rates for England Netball then yes you do. You should find it on ENgage under your club profile. If you don’t have one that’s fine too.
Q. We have a few home venues. Do I need to add all on registration?
A. No just add one. When you add a fixture, you enter match venue anyway.
Q. Do I have to enter every single one of my fixtures individually? Or can I upload?
A. You have the ability to pre populate a fixture with details from previous matches which is quite cool. In later updates we will look at full fixture upload capability.
Q. Can I contact the umpire who has applied for my fixture?
A. Once the fixture is confirmed, yes you can then message each other on Officiate to exchange further details
Q. How do I add a favourite umpire?
A. Once an umpire has applied for one of your fixtures, their application will show a star. If you press the star, it turns yellow and this means the umpire is now one of your favourites. For any future fixture you add you will then have the ability to send it to your favourite umpires or to all umpires in the area.
Q. How do I know the umpire is verified/qualified?
A. Verified on our app is shown as a tick by the name of the umpire. This means the umpire’s qualification has been verified and that they are an EN member. No tick, they are not verified, but their qualification will have been validated.
Q. I need umpires who can mentor others. Can Officiate help?
A. Yes. When you add a fixture, you can add specific requirements as a note. You can add this here and it will show on the fixture request.
Q. I have favourited an umpire but no longer wish them to see my fixtures. Can I remove?
A. You can remove from your favourites. Go to My Account and there’s an option to edit your favourite umpires. When you publish a fixture as General it will be published to all umpires in the area but you will have a choice as to who you use.
Q. I have an umpire application on one of my fixtures, but I can’t see where to confirm the booking. What do I do?
A. The likelihood is you are using an iPhone. Tap the application box and full details will be shown including the ability to confirm.
Q. Can I edit fixture details once published?
A. Yes you can edit. For a confirmed fixture, the umpire will also be informed.
Umpire
Q. There are fixtures in my Available queue that I can’t seem to apply for. Why is this?
A. This could be because they require a higher qualification than the one you hold. If this is not the case, please report as an issue on the help email provided and we will investigate.
Q. I have applied for a fixture. How will I know if it is confirmed by the club?
A. You will be notified and the fixture will move to your Confirmed Fixtures page. You will be able to message the club and ask any questions you have at this point.
Q. I have changed my mind on payment preference. What do I do?
A. Go to My Account and you can edit your profile.
Q. I set my distance preference to 10 miles but happy to travel further this weekend. Can I change my preference?
A. Yes, under sort and filter button and adjust radius.
Q. Will I be notified if I am not confirmed following an application for a fixture?
A. Yes
Q. I specified bank transfer and I haven’t been paid. Can you help?
A. Officiate will remind the club that you are awaiting payment until you confirm payment received.
Q. Will I actually be paid through Officiate if I opt for bank transfer?
A. No. We provide the club with your bank details for you and they organise offline but tell us once the payment has been made. We will notify you to look out for the payment and confirm once received.
